Base Soda
Optional Add-ins & Garnishes
Method
Preparing a Standard Soda
Choose base soda
Pick one of the base sodas from the Base Soda section: Coca-Cola (regular), Diet Coca-Cola, Orange soda, or Grapefruit soda. Each listed ingredient is portioned at 8 oz (a typical single-serving pour).
Pour soda
Slowly pour 8 oz (about 240 ml) of the chosen soda over the ice. Pouring slowly down the side of the glass will reduce foaming and preserve carbonation.
Add garnish (optional)
If desired, garnish to complement the soda: for Coca-Cola or Diet Coke, squeeze a fresh lime wedge over the drink and drop it in; for Orange soda, add an orange slice; for Grapefruit soda, add a grapefruit wedge. Add a maraschino cherry if you like.
Serve
Serve immediately with a straw or stirring spoon. Advise guests to stir gently only if they added a squeeze of citrus to distribute flavor.
