Carbonation & garnish

Method

Mixing the cocktail

1

Prepare and measure

Chill a highball or Collins glass by filling it with ice and setting aside. Measure the cachaça (or light rum), dry vermouth, elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup into a mixing tin or shaker.

2

Shake with ice

Fill the shaker with ice, cap it, and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

3

Prepare the glass

Discard the ice used to chill the serving glass and add fresh ice to about 3/4 of the glass (large cubes or crushed depending on preference).

4

Strain and top

Double-strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Gently top with about 1.5 oz (45 ml) of club soda to add effervescence, pouring slowly to preserve carbonation.

Garnish & finish

5

Slap the mint sprig once between your palms to release aroma and place it upright in the glass near the rim. Float the thin lime wheel or twist on top or attach to the rim.

6

Give the drink a gentle stir (1–2 revolutions) to integrate the soda without losing bubbles. Serve immediately.
