Chill a 12‑ounce can or bottle of Coca‑Cola in the refrigerator until cold (ideally 2–4°C). Alternatively, fill a tall glass with about 1 cup of ice cubes to keep the drink cold when serving immediately.

If using a glass, place the ice cubes into the glass leaving room for the soda so it doesn't overflow.

Open the chilled can or bottle of Coca‑Cola. Pour the soda slowly into the prepared glass over the ice to preserve carbonation and minimize foaming.

Garnish if desired: squeeze a lemon or lime wedge lightly over the top and drop it into the glass for a citrus note. Add a maraschino cherry if you like.
