Infuse the Whiskey
Allow the mixture to infuse for 1 to 2 weeks in a cool, dark place. Shake the jar gently every few days to help combine the flavors.

Strain the Infused Whiskey
After the infusion period, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle, discarding the solids.

Mix the Cocktail
In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of the cherry-orange infused whiskey, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup.

Stir the Mixture
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture for about 30 seconds until chilled.

Prepare the Glass
Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.

Garnish
Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and add it to the glass along with a maraschino cherry as garnish.
