Method

Infusion Process

  1. 1

    Prepare the Infusion

In a clean, sterilized jar, combine the whiskey, dried cherries, orange zest, and Missouri white oak chips. Seal the jar tightly.

  2. 2

    Infuse the Whiskey

Allow the mixture to infuse for 1 to 2 weeks in a cool, dark place. Shake the jar gently every few days to help combine the flavors.

  3. 3

    Strain the Infused Whiskey

After the infusion period, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle, discarding the solids.

Cocktail Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix the Cocktail

In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of the cherry-orange infused whiskey, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup.

  2. 5

    Stir the Mixture

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture for about 30 seconds until chilled.

  3. 6

    Prepare the Glass

Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.

  4. 7

    Garnish

Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and add it to the glass along with a maraschino cherry as garnish.
