Optional (for variation)
Method
Prepare Glass
Rim the glass
Run a lime wedge around the outer rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and dip the rim lightly to coat. Set the glass aside.
If you prefer no salt, skip this step and chill the glass instead.
Build & Shake
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 6 large ice cubes, 3 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 large lime), and 0.5 oz agave syrup.
Shake
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10β15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
Strain & Finish
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over 1β2 fresh large ice cubes (or serve neat in a chilled coupe if preferred). Use a fine mesh strainer in addition to the shaker strainer to remove any small ice shards or pulp.
Optional float
For a deeper, more complex top-shelf profile, gently float 0.25 oz reposado tequila on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
Garnish
Express an orange twist over the drink if using, rub it on the rim, then discard or drop it in. Add a lime wheel or wedge on the rim or in the glass.
Serve
Serve immediately. Recommend sipping slowly to appreciate the high-quality tequila and balanced citrus-sweet profile.
