Method
Prepare Glass
Optional salted rim
If you prefer a salted rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks glass and dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse or flaky sea salt until lightly coated. Set the glass aside.
Mix Cocktail
Add 2 oz 1800 Tequila Reposado, 0.75 oz Grand Marnier (or Grand Gala), 0.75 oz fresh lime juice and 0.25 oz agave syrup (if using) into a cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup of ice) and secure the lid.
Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted on the outside.
Strain the cocktail through a fine strainer into the prepared chilled rocks glass over fresh large ice (or serve neat in the glass without additional ice if preferred).
Finish & Serve
Float an additional 1/4–1/2 oz (optional) of Grand Marnier on top for a richer aroma: hold a bar spoon just above the drink and slowly pour the liqueur over the back of the spoon so it gently layers on the surface.
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
