Churros

Method

Churros

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Mix in the Flour

Once boiling, remove from heat and immediately stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  5. 5

    Pipe the Churros

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough (about 4-6 inches long) into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.

  6. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Dust with Sugar

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the hot churros in the sugar mixture to coat.

Chocolate Sauce

  1. 8

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 9

    Melt the Chocolate

Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until melted and smooth. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

  3. 10

    Serve

Transfer the chocolate sauce to a serving bowl for dipping the churros.
