Method
Making the Dough
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
Knead the Dough
Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
Shape the Dough
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
Add Sauce and Toppings
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the base, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese. Add pepperoni, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Finish with a sprinkle of Parmesan and oregano.
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
Garnish and Serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven, garnish with fresh basil, slice, and serve hot.
