Preparation

1

Choose Your Base

Select either cornmeal or oats as your base for the porridge.

Cooking

3

Combine Liquid Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the 4 cups of water and 2 cups of milk (if using).

4

Bring to a Boil

Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until it reaches a rolling boil.

5

Add the Base

Once boiling, gradually add the 1 cup of cornmeal or oats while continuously stirring to prevent clumping.

Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the porridge simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

7

Add Sweeteners and Flavorings

Once thickened, stir in 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (if using). Mix well.
