Method
Coffee Blend
Measure and combine beans
Weigh or measure whole beans: 1 cup medium roast, 1/2 cup dark roast, 1/4 cup light roast. Combine in a clean, dry container. This ratio creates a balanced 'Original Blend' with body from the dark roast, brightness from the light roast, and rounded sweetness from the medium roast.
Store
Seal the combined beans in an airtight container away from light, heat and moisture. Use within 2–3 weeks for best flavor; for a single-use batch you can roast-to-brew sooner.
Brew (per serving)
Grind
Measure 2 tablespoons (about 10–12 g) of the blend per 12 fl oz water (ratio ~1:18 by weight). Grind to suit your brewer: medium-coarse for French press, medium for drip, medium-fine for pour-over. Grind immediately before brewing for maximum freshness.
Heat water
Bring filtered water to 200°F (about 30 seconds off-boil). For 12 fl oz brew, heat approximately 12 fl oz (355 ml).
Bloom (for pour-over / drip)
Place grounds in the filter/brewer. Pour just enough water (about twice the weight of grounds) to saturate the grounds and let bloom for 30–45 seconds to release CO2.
Brew
Continue pouring or start the brew cycle. Aim for a total brew time of 2.5–4 minutes depending on method: 2.5–3.5 min for pour-over/drip, 4 minutes for French press. Adjust grind if extraction is too fast or too slow.
Serve
Pour the brewed coffee into your cup. Add optional milk/cream (2 tbsp) and sweetener (1 tsp) to taste. Taste and adjust next time: increase light roast percentage for brightness, increase dark roast for more body.
Cleanup
Discard used grounds (compost if possible). Rinse and dry equipment to preserve flavor for next brew.
Equipment & extras
Use a burr grinder for even particle size and consistent extraction. A digital scale helps reproduce the 1:18 ratio by weight (e.g., 15 g of coffee to 270 g water for a single 9–10 fl oz cup). A gooseneck kettle improves pour control for pour-over methods.
