Cocktail
Garnish
Orange-Rosemary Syrup (makes ~6 oz)
Method
Orange-Rosemary Syrup (make ahead)
Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar fully dissolves and mixture comes to a gentle simmer.
Add the orange zest strips and 2 rosemary sprigs to the simmering syrup. Reduce heat to low and simmer very gently for 5 minutes to infuse flavor; do not boil vigorously.
Remove from heat and allow the syrup to steep until it cools to room temperature, at least 30 minutes for stronger rosemary flavor.
Strain the cooled syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove zest and rosemary. Transfer to a sealed bottle and refrigerate. Syrup will keep 2–3 weeks refrigerated. Use 0.5 oz per cocktail.
Build the Refreshing Gin Splash
Chill glass
If desired, chill a coupe or rocks glass by filling with ice water while you prepare the drink; discard water before pouring.
Combine base ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Kur Gin, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.5 oz Aperol, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz orange-rosemary syrup.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (enough to nearly fill). Shake vigorously for about 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted.
Strain and top
Double-strain (or fine-strain if you want extra clarity) into the chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. If you prefer a lighter, fizzy version, top with about 1 oz club soda.
Garnish and aromatics
Garnish with an orange wheel or a long orange twist and a fresh rosemary sprig. Before placing the rosemary in the glass, gently clap it between your palms to release aromatics, and run the orange peel over the rim to add a bright citrus oil.
Serve
Serve immediately while cold. Stir gently once if you added club soda to integrate flavors.
