Method
Cocktail
Chill glass
Place a coupe or chilled rocks glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the drink (about 2–3 minutes).
Stir
Stir the mixture gently with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full turns) until well chilled and slightly diluted. Aim for a silky, glossy texture and a temperature around 0–4°C (32–39°F).
Prepare garnish
Discard ice or water from the chilled serving glass. If using an orange twist, hold the twist over the glass and give it a firm bend to express the oils over the drink, then rim the glass with the peel and drop it in or discard per preference. Skewer two natural cherries on a cocktail pick.
Serve
Strain the stirred cocktail into the chilled coupe or rocks glass. Garnish with the two natural cherries (skewered) and the expressed orange twist if using. Serve immediately.
Notes
Adjust vermouth ratio to taste: increase Carpano Antica to 1.25 oz for a slightly rounder, sweeter profile, or reduce Bigallet Amer to 0.125 oz if you want less bitterness. Use quality ice for clearer dilution and a cleaner mouthfeel. Natural brandied cherries add aroma and depth—reserve their syrup to slightly sweeten if desired.
