If the bottle has been stored in a warm environment, place it upright in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes to bring it to about 15–17°C (59–63°F). If already at cellar or cool room temperature (13–16°C / 55–60°F), remove from cold storage 30 minutes before serving to reach the ideal drinking range for a medium-bodied, fresh Malbec blend.

Chill & inspect

Use a waiter’s corkscrew or sommelier knife. Cut and remove the capsule, wipe the neck clean with a cloth, then insert the corkscrew into the cork and gently extract it straight up to avoid agitation. Inspect the cork for any off odors or signs of fault (wetness, mustiness).

Open the bottle

Hold the bottle to a light and look for sediment at the bottom. For a young, fresh Clos de los Siete, sediment is unlikely but possible. Because this vintage emphasizes freshness and accessible fruit with medium concentration and bright acidity, decanting 20–45 minutes can open aromatics and soften any tight tannins. If you prefer more primary fruit, serve directly after opening.

Evaluate & decide on decanting

Gently pour the wine into a clean decanter in one steady stream. Aim to leave roughly one centimeter of liquid over any sediment. Allow the wine to rest in the decanter for 20–45 minutes, then swirl gently before serving to release aromas.

Decant (optional)

Use large-bowled red wine glasses to concentrate aromas. Pour 120–150 ml (4–5 oz) per serving to allow room for swirling and aroma capture.

Begin by looking at the wine’s color (ruby with possible purple rim for Malbec). Swirl gently, inhale to identify notes of dark fruit, spice, and earth. Take a small sip, let it coat your tongue to evaluate acidity and tannic structure, then swallow or expectorate if tasting multiple wines. Between tastes, sip still water to refresh the palate.
