Method

Add ingredients
Fill a mixing tin or cocktail shaker halfway with fresh ice (about 1 cup). Pour in 2.5 oz citroen (lemon) vodka and 0.5 oz dry vermouth.
Shake
Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and frosty. Because this cocktail is specified 'shaken', give it a brisk shake to both chill and slightly dilute the drink, while aerating for a silkier texture.
Strain
Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini glass using the shaker's built-in strainer or a Hawthorne plus fine mesh strainer to remove small ice chips.
Garnish & Finish
Drop the twisted peel into the cocktail or neatly perch it on the rim. If using the optional 'spritz' of lemon oil, give one light spritz over the drink before dropping the twist. Serve immediately, 'up' (no ice).
