Base Dressing

Method

Base Dressing

1

Combine creamy base

In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup mayonnaise and 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream) until smooth and homogenous.

2

Whisk in 2 tablespoons whole milk, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard and 1 teaspoon olive oil until the mixture is slightly loose and pourable. Adjust milk tablespoon-by-tablespoon if you prefer a thinner or thicker dressing.

Seasoning & Aromatics

3

Add aromatics

Stir in 1 clove of finely minced garlic, 1 tablespoon chopped chives, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, and 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill if using. Mix until evenly distributed.

4

Season and balance

Add 1 teaspoon chopped capers if using. Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon sugar or honey. Taste and adjust: add more lemon for brightness, salt for seasoning, or a splash of milk to loosen.

5

Let the dressing rest in the refrigerator for at least 20–30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Stir before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
