Method

Cocktail

1

Combine base ingredients

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Add 4 oz pineapple juice, 1.5 oz sour mix, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice to the shaker.

2

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10-12 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and slightly frosted.

3

Strain into glass

Fill a Collins glass (or highball) with fresh ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass, leaving a bit of room at the top (about 1 inch) for soda.

4

Add soda and grenadine

Top the glass with 2 oz chilled lemon-lime soda. Slowly pour 0.25 oz grenadine down the side (or over the back of a spoon) so it sinks and creates a gradient 'sunrise' effect toward the bottom of the glass.

5

Light stir (optional)

If you prefer a slightly blended drink, gently stir once with a bar spoon — three slow turns — to incorporate flavors while preserving the layered look. If you want the gradient, do not stir.

Garnish & Serve

6

Skewer a maraschino cherry and a pineapple wedge (or place separately). Slide a lemon wheel onto the rim of the glass and rest the skewer on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw.
