Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tsp of baking powder, and 1 tsp of salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream together 1 cup of unsalted butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add 3 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add 2 tsp of vanilla extract and mix until combined.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with 1 cup of milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Add Food Coloring

Add 1 tsp of pink food coloring to the batter and mix until the desired pink shade is reached.

  7. 7

    Pour into Pans

Divide the batter evenly into two greased 9-inch round cake pans.

  8. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  9. 9

    Cool

Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 10

    Make the Frosting

In a large bowl, beat together 1 cup of unsalted butter and 3 cups of powdered sugar until smooth.

  2. 11

    Add Cream and Flavoring

Add 2 tbs of heavy cream, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1 tsp of pink food coloring. Beat until fluffy and well combined.

  3. 12

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  4. 13

    Decorate

Optional: Decorate with sprinkles or edible flowers for an extra touch.
