1

Assemble and chill glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with ice to chill it while you prepare the other components (about 30 seconds). Discard a little of the meltwater if a lot accumulates so the drink doesn't dilute too much.

2

Add citrus and grenadine

Remove the chilled glass' excess meltwater and keep the ice. Pour the fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz) and fresh lime juice (0.5 oz) directly over the ice. Then add the grenadine (0.5 oz) — pour it gently so it sinks slightly and creates a subtle layered color.

3

Top with club soda

Slowly top the glass with 6 oz of chilled club soda. Pour over the back of a spoon if you want to preserve the layered look. Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to marry the citrus and grenadine with the soda without eliminating all effervescence.

4

Garnish

Thread two maraschino cherries onto a cocktail pick (or drop them into the drink). Add a lemon wheel and a lime wheel to the rim or float them on top. The garnishes provide aroma and visual contrast to the sweet grenadine.

5

Serve

Serve immediately while the soda is still fizzy. Offer a straw if desired.
