Place the bottle upright in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. Pinot Gris is best served chilled to about 45–50°F (7–10°C).

Refrigerator method (recommended)

If short on time, fill a wine bucket or large pitcher with ice and cold water, submerge the bottle, and rotate gently for 6–8 minutes until chilled to 45–50°F (use an instant-read thermometer if available).

Quick ice bath

Select clean, stemmed white wine glasses (one per guest). Rinse each glass briefly with cold water and set upside down to drain or chill in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes to keep the wine cold longer.

If using garnish, cut four 1-inch lemon peel twists. Lightly express oils by holding the twist over the glass and giving it a short twist, then rest the peel on the rim or float gently in the glass. Alternatively, add a small mint sprig to each glass for a fresh aroma.

Remove the chilled bottle from the refrigerator or ice bath. Wipe the bottle neck with a clean napkin to remove any condensation or ice water.

Open the bottle carefully. Hold the bottle at the base and twist the cork out slowly (or use a waiter’s corkscrew). Wipe the rim after opening.

Pour about 5–6 oz (150–180 ml) per glass, filling to roughly one-third to one-half of the glass to allow the wine to breathe and aromas to concentrate.

Place a lemon twist or mint sprig on each glass if desired. Serve immediately and advise guests to sip at 45–50°F for best expression of floral and stone-fruit notes.

If you have leftover wine, reseal with the original cork (inserted with the clean side inward) or a wine stopper. Refrigerate and consume within 3–5 days for best quality. Return to serving temperature (about 45–50°F) before pouring additional servings.
