Cocktail Base

Garnish & Finish

Method

Prepare the Glass

  1. 1

Chill a tall pint glass (16 oz) by placing it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or filling it with ice water for 2–3 minutes, then discarding the water. This helps keep the beer fizzy longer.

Mix the Cocktail Base

  1. 2

    Combine spirits and citrus

In a mixing glass or shaker, pour 1.5 oz vodka, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup. Add 4–6 ice cubes. Cap and shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.

  2. 3

    Strain over ice

Place fresh ice cubes into the chilled pint glass (about 3/4 full). Strain the vodka-lime mixture over the ice into the glass.

  3. 4

    Top with beer

Hold the bottle of cold Pabst Blue Ribbon roughly 1 inch above the glass and pour slowly down the side to minimize foam, filling the glass to the top (about 12 oz). Pour gently to preserve carbonation.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 5

Give the drink a gentle stir with a bar spoon (1–2 slow turns) to integrate the beer and vodka mixture without flattening the beer.

  2. 6

Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim. Optionally squeeze the lime into the drink before dropping it in for extra brightness.

  3. 7

Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
