Prepare the Sauce

Cook the Tomatoes

In a medium saucepan, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the San Marzano tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine, then let simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Blend the Sauce

After 15 minutes, use an immersion blender to puree the sauce to your desired consistency. You can leave it chunky or blend it completely smooth.

Chop the Onion

Thinly slice the sweet red onion and set aside.

Halve the Cherry Tomatoes

Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and set aside.

Prepare the Tuna

Open the cans of tuna and drain any excess oil, reserving a little for drizzling later.

Tear the Basil

Gently tear the fresh basil leaves into smaller pieces.

Assemble the Dish

Combine Ingredients

In a large serving bowl, combine the prepared sauce with the tuna, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced onion. Mix gently to combine.

Top the mixture with chunks of Fior di Latte cheese and torn basil leaves. Drizzle with reserved olive oil from the tuna cans.
