Method

Prep

1

Chill glass

Place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail ingredients so the drink stays cold longer.

2

If using fresh cranberries for garnish, rinse and pat dry. If using frozen cranberries they double as chill and garnish—no thawing needed.

Build & Mix

3

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 3/4 full). Add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz Campari (if using), and 0.5 oz cranberry juice.

4

Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker feels cold to the touch. The short shake chills and slightly dilutes the spirit mix, balancing acidity and sweetness.

5

Discard ice or water from the chilled highball/Collins glass and fill the glass with fresh ice (about 3/4 full or 1 cup).

6

Strain the shaken gin mixture into the prepared glass over the ice.

7

Top gently with 6 oz cranberry long drink (or cranberry-flavored ready-to-drink mixer). Pour slowly down the side of the glass to keep effervescence and a layered look if desired. Stir once gently with a bar spoon to integrate flavors without flattening carbonation.

Garnish & Serve

8

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and skewer 3 cranberries on a cocktail pick; rest across the top of the glass or drop the cranberries into the drink.

9

Serve immediately with a straw (optional). Encourage sipping to enjoy the interplay of tart cranberry, gin botanicals, and light bitterness from the Campari option.
