Cocktail

1

Build and shake

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add vodka, fresh lime juice, fresh grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and orange liqueur. Add two dashes of Angostura bitters. Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well-chilled.

2

Prepare glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with fresh ice (large cubes or one large block).

3

Double strain and top

Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over ice using a Hawthorne strainer; for a cleaner texture, double-strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp and ice shards. Top with approximately 2 oz cold club soda and gently stir once or twice to combine without losing carbonation.

4

Finish

Express the oils of the grapefruit twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side-down over the glass and giving it a quick pinch, then rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the drink (or perch a thin wheel on the rim). Serve immediately.
