Cocktail

Optional (for a traditional twist)

Method

Prepare

1

Chill glass (optional)

If you prefer a colder drink, place your rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you assemble ingredients, then discard the ice water before building the cocktail.

Build & Stir

2

Add 0.25 oz simple syrup to a mixing glass or the chilled rocks glass.

3

Add 3 dashes of Angostura bitters to the simple syrup. If using an additional dash from the optional section, add it here.

4

Pour in 2 oz Redemption Bourbon over the syrup and bitters.

5

Add a large ice cube (or 3–4 regular ice cubes) to the mixing glass. Stir gently for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (the mixing glass or spoon should feel cold). If building directly in the serving glass, stir in that glass instead.

Finish & Garnish

6

If you built the drink in a separate mixing glass, strain the chilled cocktail over a large ice cube in a chilled rocks glass.

7

Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel with the outer skin facing down about 2–3 inches above the glass and giving it a firm squeeze to spray the oils across the surface.

8

Rub the rim of the glass with the orange peel, then drop the peel into the drink as garnish.

9

Optionally, add a Luxardo or maraschino cherry on a pick and rest it on the ice or drop it into the drink.
