Tea

Sweetener (optional)

Method

Brew

1

Heat water

Bring 2 cups (480 ml) of fresh, filtered water to just under boiling — about 175–185°F (80–85°C). If you do not have a thermometer, bring to a low simmer and let stand 1 minute to cool slightly.

2

Steep tea

Place 2 teaspoons of jasmine green tea leaves (or 2 tea bags) into a teapot or heatproof pitcher. Pour the hot water over the leaves. Steep for 2–3 minutes for a light, floral cup; steep up to 4 minutes for a more pronounced flavor. Avoid steeping longer than 4 minutes to prevent bitterness.

3

After steeping, strain out the leaves or remove the tea bags. Pour the brewed tea into a heatproof cup or a separate pitcher to stop extraction.

Finish & Sweeten

4

If you want the tea slightly sweetened, stir in 1 tablespoon honey while the tea is still warm so it dissolves fully. Alternatively use 1 teaspoon simple syrup (for a neutral sweetness). Taste and adjust to preference.

5

If adding citrus, squeeze the juice of half a lemon or lime into the tea and stir. Add the thin slices for aroma and presentation.

Serve

6

Hot serving

Pour into warmed cups. Garnish with a mint leaf if desired and serve immediately.

7

Iced serving

To make iced jasmine green tea, allow the brewed tea to cool to room temperature (about 15–20 minutes), then fill a glass with 1 cup of ice and pour the tea over the ice. Add lemon or lime slices and mint leaves; stir briefly. For best clarity and flavor, chill the brewed tea in the refrigerator for 30–60 minutes before serving.
