Method
Cocktail
Prepare glass
Place one large ice cube or sphere into a chilled rocks glass. If you prefer a slightly colder glass, chill it briefly in the freezer beforehand.
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass filled with ice, add 2 oz bourbon or rye, 0.5 oz Traverse City American Cherry liqueur (or cherry syrup), 0.25 oz simple syrup, 3 dashes Angostura bitters and 1 dash orange bitters.
Stir
Stir the mixture briskly for about 20–30 seconds (15–20 full turns) until well chilled and properly diluted (about 20–25% dilution by eye).
Strain
Double-strain (or fine-strain if using crushed ice) the chilled cocktail into the rocks glass over the prepared large ice cube.
Optional Rinse / Tap Presentation
For an added layer of complexity (especially for on-tap service), rinse the inside of the serving glass with 0.25 tsp barrel-aged cherry or oak bitters before adding ice. Swirl to coat and discard any excess.
If serving from a tap system, ensure the tap lines are flushed and kept cold; pour cocktail slowly to minimize foam and preserve aromatics.
