Cocktail Base

Garnish & Finish

Method

Cocktail Base

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you build the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Combine base ingredients

In a mixing glass add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.5 oz limoncello, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice and 0.25 oz optional sweet vermouth or elderflower liqueur. These create a balanced Tuscan-inspired base: botanical gin, citrus, and a touch of sweetness.

Aromatic & Flavoring

  1. 3

    Add aromatics

Add 1 fresh thyme sprig (lightly bruised between your fingers to release oils), 2 dashes orange bitters and 0.25 oz honey syrup to the mixing glass.

  2. 4

    Stir & chill

Fill the mixing glass with ice (about 6 medium cubes) and stir gently but thoroughly for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted (~15–20% dilution). Stirring preserves clarity and integrates the aromatics.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 5

    Prepare glass

Discard the ice water from the chilled glass if used, or remove the glass from the freezer. If you like, run a lemon twist around the rim for extra aroma.

  2. 6

    Double-strain and garnish

Using a julep or fine strainer, double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe. Express the lemon twist over the drink to release oils, rub it on the glass rim, then drop it in. Garnish with the second fresh thyme sprig placed gently on the surface to perfume the drink.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately. Optionally present with a small spritz of lemon oil or extra thyme for an intensified aromatic experience.
