Citrus-Infused Nonalcoholic Spirit Base
Bitter-Red Mixer
Finish & Garnish
Method
Citrus-Infused Nonalcoholic Spirit Base
Measure and mix base
In a mixing glass or small pitcher, combine 6 tablespoons nonalcoholic gin-style spirit, 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and 1 teaspoon simple syrup. Stir gently to integrate. These components create a brighter, citrus-forward backbone that mimics the botanical lift of a classic Negroni.
Bitters (optional)
If using aromatic bitters (or a nonalcoholic aromatic blend), add 2 dashes to the base mixture and stir once more. Bitters add depth and complexity; omit if you need a completely bitter-free drink.
Bitter-Red Mixer
Add bitter aperitif and fruit note
Add 3 tablespoons nonalcoholic red bitter aperitif and 1 tablespoon pomegranate (or unsweetened cranberry) juice to the citrus-spirit mixture. Stir for 10–15 seconds to chill and marry flavors. Taste and adjust: if it needs more bitterness, add another 1/2 tablespoon bitter aperitif; if it needs sweeter balance, add 1/2 teaspoon simple syrup.
Finish & Garnish
Prepare glass and ice
Place one large ice cube or sphere into a rocks glass. The large cube slows dilution and keeps the drink crisp.
Build the cocktail
Strain the combined mixture over the ice cube in the prepared glass.
Top and express
Top with 1 ounce club soda or sparkling water to add a subtle lift and effervescence. Take the orange peel, hold it over the glass and give it a firm twist to express the oils onto the drink, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it in as garnish.
Final taste and serve
Give the drink a gentle stir once with a bar spoon to integrate the soda, then serve immediately. Note: keep extra nonalcoholic components chilled so you can make subsequent servings quickly without additional dilution.
