Smoothie Base

Method

Prep

1

If using fresh mango, peel and dice enough to measure 1 cup. Peel the banana and break into chunks. Measure out yogurt, milk, oats, and protein powder.

2

If you prefer a smoother texture without oat grittiness, lightly pulse the oats in a blender or food processor for 5–8 seconds to make a finer crumb.

Blend

3

Add ingredients to blender

Place the yogurt (1 cup), banana chunks (1 medium), mango (1 cup), rolled oats (1/4 cup), plant protein scoop (1 scoop), plant milk (1 cup), pinch of salt (1/4 tsp), and any chosen flavorings (maple syrup 1 tsp, cinnamon 1 tsp, vanilla 1 tsp, lime juice 1 tsp) into a high-speed blender.

4

Blend until smooth

Start the blender on low for 10–15 seconds, then increase to high and blend 30–45 seconds until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no large fruit or oat pieces. If using ice, add 4 ice cubes and pulse 10–15 seconds more until incorporated and chilled.

5

Check consistency and protein

If the lassi is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons of plant milk and pulse once or twice. Taste and adjust sweetness with up to 1 more teaspoon of maple syrup or a squeeze more citrus if desired. If using a plant protein powder with smaller scoop or different protein content, ensure the scoop included provides ~20 g — adjust quantity if needed.

Serve

6

Pour the lassi into two small glasses or one generous 16–20 oz glass. Sprinkle toasted oats or granola (2 tbsp) on top, add a few mango cubes or banana slices (2 tbsp), and garnish with mint leaves.

7

Serve immediately chilled. This recipe yields approximately 2 snack servings or 1 large snack portion.
