Ding Dong Batter
Fried Ding Dong Assembly
Method
Batter Preparation
Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, combine the milk, vanilla extract, and egg. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until smooth.
Frying the Ding Dongs
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot, heat enough oil for frying over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Ding Dongs
Dip each Ding Dong into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place them in the hot oil, frying for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Assembly and Serving
Plate Up
Place the fried Ding Dongs on a serving plate, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and sprinkle with sliced almonds before serving.
