Method

Cocktail Base

1

Measure

Measure 2 oz bourbon, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.75 oz fresh simple syrup into a mixing glass or shaker.

Muddle & Flavor

2

Muddle

Place 1 lemon wedge and the mint leaves (if using) into the mixing glass. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press and twist 6–8 times to release oils and additional juice — do not pulverize the mint, just bruise it to release aroma.

Build & Mix

3

Combine and Shake

Add the measured bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup to the muddled lemon and mint. Fill the shaker with ice (about 3/4 full), cap, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled.

4

Strain Over Ice

Fill a Collins or highball glass with cubed ice (about 1 cup). Double-strain the cocktail into the glass to remove solids and mint bits.

5

Top

Add 3 oz chilled lemonade and gently stir once to combine. Top with 2 oz sparkling water to add effervescence. Give a very light stir to integrate without flattening the bubbles.

Garnish & Serve

6

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim and a sprig of mint tucked into the drink. Serve with a straw and an optional small cocktail spoon for any remaining muddled bits.
