Chocolate Torte
Method
Preparation
- 1
Melt the Chocolate
In a double boiler, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 2
Mix the Batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Gradually stir in the melted chocolate mixture. Add the flour and vanilla extract, mixing until just combined.
- 3
Bake the Torte
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- 4
Serve
Once the torte is completely cooled, slice and serve with a drizzle of Ghirardelli caramel sauce and a scoop of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream on the side.
