Method
Making the Hummus
- 1
Prepare the Chickpeas
Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess sodium.
- 2
Blend the Hummus
In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic clove (peeled), olive oil, ground cumin, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- 3
Adjust Consistency
While blending, add water gradually until you reach a creamy consistency. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- 4
Transfer to Serving Dish
Once blended to a smooth consistency, transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle a little olive oil on top for garnish.
Preparing the Vegetables
- 5
Slice the Vegetables
Wash and slice the cucumber, carrot, and red bell pepper into sticks or bite-sized pieces for easy dipping.
Preparing the Pita
- 6
Warm the Pita
If desired, warm the pita bread in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 1-2 minutes on each side until soft and slightly golden.
- 7
Cut the Pita
Cut the warmed pita bread into wedges for serving.
