Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Dice the Tomatoes

Wash the tomatoes thoroughly. Remove the stems and dice them into small pieces. Place in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Chop the Garlic

Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves. Add them to the bowl with diced tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Basil

Wash the basil leaves and pat dry. Tear the leaves into smaller pieces and add to the tomato mixture.

  4. 4

    Season the Topping

Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the mixture. Toss gently to combine all ingredients. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Preparation of Bread

  1. 5

    Slice the Baguette

Cut the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices on a diagonal to help with grilling.

  2. 6

    Brush with Olive Oil

Brush one side of each slice with olive oil for added flavor and to prevent sticking.

  3. 7

    Grill the Bread

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the oiled side of the bread down on the grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes until the bread is golden brown and has grill marks.

  4. 8

    Flip and Toast

Flip the bread slices and grill for an additional 1-2 minutes until the other side is toasted.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Top the Bread

Remove the grilled bread from the heat. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto the grilled side of each slice.

  2. 10

    Serve Immediately

Serve the bruschetta warm or at room temperature. Enjoy as an appetizer or snack!
