Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Meat Sauce
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
- 2
Cook the Noodles
While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 3
Mix Ricotta Filling
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until smooth.
- 4
Assemble the Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by three lasagna noodles, then half of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and another layer of meat sauce. Repeat this process, finishing with noodles, remaining sauce, and topping with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- 5
Bake
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 6
Cool and Serve
Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
