Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent.

  3. 3

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Ricotta Mixture

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Cook the Noodles

Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  7. 7

Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese.

  8. 8

Repeat the layers: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Finish with a final layer of noodles, remaining meat sauce, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

  9. 9

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  10. 10

Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
