Cocktail
Garnish & Glass
Method
Prepare glass
Chill a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill with ice water while preparing the cocktail.
Make cocktail
Muddle raspberries
Add the fresh raspberries and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Gently muddle the berries with a muddler or the back of a spoon until they are broken down and have released their juices but not pulverized (about 8–10 medium presses).
Combine spirits and citrus
Add the Grey Goose Le Citron vodka (2 oz), Cointreau (0.75 oz), and fresh lemon juice (0.75 oz) to the shaker with the muddled raspberries.
Shake with ice
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and the outside of the shaker becomes frosty.
Double strain
Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double strain the cocktail into the prepared glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (to remove raspberry seeds and pulp) so the drink is smooth.
Garnish & serve
Float a fresh raspberry on top of the cocktail and add a lemon wheel or twist on the rim. Serve immediately.
Estimated flavor balance: If the drink tastes too tart, add 0.25 oz more simple syrup and gently stir; if too sweet, add 0.25 oz more lemon juice and re-shake briefly with ice.
