Mimosa Base

Method

Mimosa Base

1

Chill components

Place the bottle of sparkling wine and the orange juice in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. Mimosas are best served very cold.

2

Prepare glasses

Use clean, dry champagne flutes or stemmed wine glasses. If desired, place the glasses in the fridge or freezer for 10–15 minutes just prior to serving to keep them extra cold (do not freeze).

3

Pour juice

Pour orange juice into each flute first, filling to about one-third of the glass (approximately 60–75 ml per 150–180 ml glass). Pouring juice first helps control the ratio and reduces foaming when adding sparkling wine.

4

Add sparkling wine

Slowly top each glass with chilled sparkling wine, pouring gently down the side of the glass to preserve bubbles. Fill to about two-thirds full (roughly 120–150 ml), maintaining a roughly 1:1 to 1:2 sparkling wine to orange juice ratio depending on taste.

5

Gently stir (optional)

If needed, give the drink a very gentle swirl or one short stir with a bar spoon to integrate, but avoid vigorous stirring to preserve carbonation.

Optional Variations & Garnish

6

Classic Cadillac Mimosa (optional)

For a richer, more complex mimosa, add about 5–15 ml of Grand Marnier or another orange liqueur into each glass before pouring the sparkling wine. Adjust to taste.

7

Sweeter mimosa (optional)

If your orange juice is tart and you prefer a sweeter drink, add 5–10 ml simple syrup to each glass before topping with sparkling wine. Stir gently.

8

Garnish

Garnish each glass with an orange slice or twist on the rim. For a festive touch, drop a berry (strawberry slice or raspberry) into the drink.

9

Serve

Serve immediately while the sparkling wine is still fizzy. Offer extra orange juice and sparkling wine on the side for guests who want to adjust ratios.
