Bourbon Bottle & Glassware

Optional Garnish and Water

Method

Glass & Ice Preparation

1

Chill or Prepare Glass

If you prefer a slightly chilled serve, place your rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice and water to chill for 2 minutes, then discard the water before pouring. If using a snifter or Glencairn, no chilling is required.

2

Prepare Ice

If using a large ice cube, place it into the prepared glass. If using standard ice, add 2–3 cubes. A single large cube keeps the bourbon colder longer while minimizing dilution.

Pouring & Serving

3

Measure and Pour

Measure 50 ml (about 1.7 oz) of Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon and pour it over the ice in your glass. Adjust to personal preference; common pours range from 30–60 ml.

4

Optional Water

Add 5–15 ml of fresh water if you prefer to open up the aroma and flavors. Add a few drops first, swirl gently, then taste and add more if desired.

5

Optional Garnish

If using an orange peel or lemon twist, express the oils over the glass by holding the peel with the outer skin facing down over the drink and giving it a firm twist to spray the oils on the surface. Rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the glass if desired.

6

Bring the glass to your nose and take a gentle sniff to appreciate the nose (notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak). Sip slowly, letting the bourbon coat your palate to appreciate its balance of sweetness, spice and oak. If the bourbon becomes too warm or you want more dilution, add a small amount of water or let the ice melt slightly.
