Limonada Base

Method

Limonada Base

1

Juice and Extract

Roll the limes on the countertop under your palm for 20–30 seconds to loosen juices. Halve the limes and juice them until you have about 3/4 to 1 cup (180–240 ml) of fresh lime juice. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove pulp and seeds if you prefer a smoother drink.

2

Combine with Water and Condensed Milk

Add 4 cups cold water to the pitcher with the strained lime juice. Pour in 6 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk. Whisk vigorously until the condensed milk is fully incorporated and the mixture is homogenous. Taste and, if you prefer a slightly sweeter or creamier drink, stir in up to 1 teaspoon granulated sugar and whisk again until dissolved.

3

Adjust Consistency

If the lime flavor is too sharp, add an additional 1/4 to 1/2 cup water and re-taste. If it's too mild, add the juice of one more lime. The final balance should be bright, tangy, and pleasantly creamy from the condensed milk.

Serve & Garnish

4

Fill 4 serving glasses with ice (about 1/2 cup ice per glass). Pour the limonada over the ice, dividing it evenly among the glasses.

5

Garnish each glass with a lime slice on the rim and a sprig of mint if using. Serve immediately with a stirring straw so each guest can mix any settled milk back into the drink before sipping.
