Strawberry Lemonade
Method
Strawberry Lemonade
Prepare Simple Syrup
Combine 1 cup water and 3 tablespoons granulated sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. (If you prefer a quicker method, dissolve the sugar in warm water in a heatproof measuring cup or jar and chill.)
Hull and Puree Strawberries
Trim the stems from 2 cups fresh strawberries and cut larger berries in half. Place strawberries in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth, about 20–30 seconds. If you prefer a seed-free lemonade, press the puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, using the back of a spoon to extract as much juice as possible; discard seeds and pulp.
Juice the Lemons
Juice fresh lemons until you have 1 cup of lemon juice (about 6–8 medium lemons depending on size and juiciness). Strain the juice through a fine mesh to remove pulp and seeds for a smoother lemonade, if desired.
Combine and Chill
In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup, 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, and the strawberry puree (or strained strawberry juice). Add 4 cups cold water and stir thoroughly. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity: add more water if too strong, more simple syrup if too tart, or a tablespoon of lemon juice if it needs more brightness.
Make-Ahead & Storage
Store leftover lemonade in a sealed pitcher or bottle in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir well before serving; the mixture may separate slightly. For longer storage, keep the strawberry puree and lemonade base (lemon juice + simple syrup + water) separate and mix just before serving to preserve fresher color and flavor.
