Shake Base
Chill glass (optional)
Place a mini serving glass or small milkshake glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to keep the shake extra cold and thick.
Scoop the vanilla ice cream into a chilled mixing bowl or the jar of a blender. Allow a minute for the ice cream to soften slightly; this helps achieve a creamy texture without melting.
Add the whole milk and heavy cream to the bowl or blender with the ice cream. The ratio here gives a rich, creamy mini shake. For a thicker shake use slightly less milk (3/4 cup), for thinner add up to 1/4 cup more milk.
Add the vanilla extract, granulated sugar, and a pinch of fine sea salt. The sugar brightens sweetness and the salt enhances vanilla flavor.
Blend by hand with an immersion blender or use a countertop blender in short pulses. Blend just until smooth and fully combined, about 10–20 seconds. Over-blending will warm and thin the shake.
Check consistency and taste. If too thick, stir in up to 1–2 tablespoons additional milk. If you prefer a stronger vanilla note, add another 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract and stir briefly.
Pour the mini vanilla shake into the chilled glass, leaving a small rim for garnishes if desired.
Optional Garnish
Top the shake with 2 tablespoons whipped cream, keeping it light to preserve the mini portion size.
Place a mini vanilla wafer or cookie on the whipped cream or on the rim for a classic presentation.
Finish with a light pinch of ground nutmeg or cinnamon over the whipped cream for aroma and visual appeal.
Serve immediately with a short spoon or small straw so the shake remains cold and creamy.
