Method
Coffee Base
Measure coffee
For one 8 fl oz serving, measure 1 tablespoon (about 0.033 cups) of ground coffee. Use a medium-coarse grind for drip/pour-over or medium for automatic drip.
Hot method — brew
Boil or heat 1/2 cup (120 ml) of water to 195–205°F (just off boil). Place coffee grounds in your brewer (drip maker, pour-over cone, French press). Pour hot water evenly over grounds and brew for 3–4 minutes (French press: steep 4 minutes then plunge; pour-over: total brew time ~3 minutes).
Iced method — brew strong hot coffee (flash-chill) or cold brew
Option A (quick iced): Brew using 1/2 cup hot water but use slightly more coffee (add 1/2–1 extra tsp) to account for dilution, then let it cool briefly and pour over ice. Option B (cold brew concentrate): Combine 1/3 cup coarsely ground coffee with 1 1/2 cups cold water, steep 12–18 hours in fridge, then strain. Use 1:2 concentrate-to-water ratio when serving.
Optional Milk & Dairy Alternatives
Sweeteners & Flavorings (optional)
Add sweetener while coffee is hot so sugar dissolves easily (1 tsp granulated sugar) or add 1 tsp flavored syrup if you prefer. Stir in 1/8 tsp vanilla extract for extra aroma. Adjust amounts to taste.
