Base Soda

Ice

Method

Prepare Glass and Ice

  1. 1

    Chill glass (optional)

If desired, place the serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to help keep the drink colder longer.

  2. 2

Fill the chilled or room-temperature glass with 1 cup of ice cubes, leaving about ½ inch (1–1.5 cm) of headspace at the top.

Dispense Soda

  1. 3

Select your preferred fountain soda flavor. Hold the glass at a slight angle (about 45°) under the fountain nozzle to minimize foaming.

  2. 4

Gently press the dispenser and fill the glass to about ¾–7/8 full (approximately 12 fl oz of soda), leaving room for any add-ins and a small foam head.

Add Optional Flavorings and Garnish

  1. 5

If using flavored syrup or concentrate, add 1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste) into the filled soda and stir gently with a long spoon to combine. Taste and add up to another 1/2 tsp if you prefer a stronger flavor.

  2. 6

Squeeze the lemon or lime wedge over the drink if using, then drop the wedge into the glass for extra aroma and a slight citrus bite.

  3. 7

Top with a maraschino cherry and/or a mint sprig for garnish, if desired.

Serve

  1. 8

Serve immediately with a straw. Advise the drinker to stir again before sipping if add-ins were used, as syrups may settle.
