Method

Prepare Glass

1

Salt the rim

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass to moisten. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and dip the moistened rim into the salt, twisting to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mix Cocktail

2

Fill a cocktail shaker with 4-6 large ice cubes (enough to chill and slightly dilute the drink).

3

Add Jose Cuervo tequila (1 oz), Sauza tequila (1 oz), and 1800 tequila (1 oz) to the shaker.

4

Add Cointreau (1 oz) and Grand Marnier (1/2 oz) to the shaker.

5

Pour in fresh lime juice (1 oz) and sweet & sour mix (1.5 oz). If you prefer brighter citrus, increase lime juice by 0.25–0.5 oz and reduce sweet & sour by the same amount.

6

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well chilled.

7

Fill the prepared rocks glass with fresh ice (enough to the top). Strain the shaken mixture over the ice using a Hawthorne or fine strainer to remove small shards.

Garnish & Serve

8

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally express a lime peel over the drink for aromatic oils before dropping it in.

9

Serve immediately with a short stirring spoon or straw. Recommend stirring once in the glass if desired to integrate as the ice melts.
