Prepare glass and mint
Place 8–10 fresh mint leaves into a sturdy highball or Collins glass. Pour the 0.5 oz simple syrup over the mint leaves.
Muddle
Gently muddle the mint and syrup with a muddler or the back of a spoon just enough to bruise the leaves and release oils — do not shred the mint (about 6–8 light presses).
Add lime juice
Add 0.75 oz fresh lime juice to the glass. Give the mixture a quick stir (4–5 rotations) to combine syrup, lime, and mint oils.
Garnish and serve
Gently slap a mint sprig between your palms to release aroma and use it as garnish along with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim. Insert a straw if desired and serve immediately.
