Cooking Directions

1

Prepare the Pork

Cut the pork shoulder into large chunks and season with salt, pepper, cumin, and oregano.

2

Sauté the Aromatics

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.

3

Combine Ingredients

Add the seasoned pork, bay leaves, orange juice, lime juice, and water to the skillet. Stir to combine.

4

Cook the Carnitas

Cover and cook on low heat for about 3-4 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

5

Shred the Pork

Remove the pork from the pot and shred it with two forks. Discard any excess fat and bay leaves.

6

Crisp the Carnitas

Spread the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 5-7 minutes until crispy edges form.

7

Serve

Serve the carnitas warm with tortillas, salsa, and your favorite toppings.
