Coffee
Tea (Black or Herbal)
Equipment & Extras
Method
Coffee
Prepare coffee
Place 2 tablespoons of freshly ground medium-ground coffee into your coffee maker, French press, or into a filter in a drip brewer. If using a single-cup pour-over, put the grounds in the paper or reusable filter.
Brew
Pour the hot water evenly over the grounds. For a French press, pour all water, stir gently, cover with plunger, and steep 3-4 minutes before pressing. For pour-over or drip, allow all water to pass through the grounds into the carafe or mug.
Tea (Black or Herbal)
Heat water
Bring 240 ml filtered water to the appropriate temperature: for black tea bring to a rolling boil (100°C / 212°F); for green tea heat to about 75-80°C (not a rolling boil); for herbal teas bring to a full boil (100°C / 212°F).
Steep tea
Place 1 tablespoon of loose tea (or one tea bag) into an infuser or cup. Pour the hot water over the tea. Steep according to tea type: black tea 3-5 minutes, green tea 2-3 minutes, herbal tea 5-7 minutes. Adjust time for strength preference.
Cleanup & Tips
Discard used grounds or tea leaves (compost if possible). Rinse equipment promptly to avoid staining and buildup. Store remaining coffee grounds in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days if planning to reuse for a second brew (not recommended for best flavor).
Adjust strength by changing grind amount (coffee) or steep time (tea). Use fresh cold filtered water for best clarity and flavor. Preheat mug with hot water for best heat retention.
