Acai Bowl

Clocking in at 5.3% ABV, Grateful Dead Juicy Pale Ale is brewed with Kernza® grains, granola and heaps of good karma for a refreshing, light-bodied beer.

In a large mash tun, combine 2 cups of Kernza® grains with 5 gallons of filtered water. Heat the mixture to 152°F (67°C) and maintain this temperature for 60 minutes.

Mash the Grains

After the mash, sparge the grains with additional water to collect around 6-7 gallons of wort.

Sparging

Bring the collected wort to a boil and add 1 oz of Citra hops and 1 oz of Mosaic hops. Boil for 60 minutes.

After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches approximately 70°F (21°C).

Cool the Wort

Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and pitch the packet of American Ale yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock.

Pitch the Yeast

Allow the beer to ferment at room temperature for about 1-2 weeks, until fermentation is complete.

Once fermentation is complete, gently stir in 1 cup of granola and 3 oz of corn sugar for carbonation.

Bottle the beer and allow it to carbonate for an additional 1-2 weeks.

Chill the bottles and serve your Grateful Dead Juicy Pale Ale in a clean glass. Enjoy your refreshing brew!
