Build the drink
Fill a chilled rocks glass (or old-fashioned glass) with large ice cubes almost to the top. Pour 1 oz coffee liqueur directly over the ice so it settles along the bottom.

Add vodka
Slowly pour 1 oz vodka over the back of a spoon (or down the inside of the glass) so it layers gently on top of the coffee liqueur rather than immediately mixing.

Top with soda
Carefully pour 1 oz chilled club soda down the back of a spoon onto the vodka to create a light top layer. The three components should remain somewhat separated in layers.

Serve with straw
Insert a straw so its end sits near the bottom of the glass (resting in the coffee liqueur layer). The traditional way to drink a Mind Eraser is to place the straw in the mouth and drink quickly in one or two strong sips so the layers mix as you drink.

Optionally rub the lemon wedge around the rim and drop it into the glass or rest it on the rim as a garnish. Serve immediately while soda is fizzy. Provide one straw per serving.
